Happy March, everyone! The little scouts meeting this past weekend was such fun! We decided to do a different format for the meeting, and decided to give a shot at a Littles' Preschool. And what a huge success it was!
There were different stations set up for all different activities, like coloring, blocks, and play doh. Each scout had their own card with their name on the back, and for each activity they finished (along with assisting with cleaning up the venue at the end of the meeting), they all got a stamp. All we had to do was show off our creations and get a stamp on our card from one of our "Den Daddies". As long as we had at least four stamps, we were able to earn our patch for the day! What a great way to earn patches! Everyone did a great job.
Because Dr. Seuss Day had just passed (it was March 2 this year), we decided to go with a Dr. Seuss theme. Our coloring pages were all different characters and items from Dr. Seuss books, and at the end of the meeting all of the scouts got to enjoy storytime of two Dr. Seuss books: One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, and of course Green Eggs and Ham! We had some really AWESOME snacks made by Becca: Green eggs and ham decorated pretzels, and Hop-on-Pop-corn. We also had some delicious homemade bread by Jaymee, and what's more: we had cake!!!
Along with launching our Littles' Preschool and enjoying Dr. Seuss related activities, we also decided to celebrate and express our appreciation and admiration of our amazing Caregivers. All the scouts got together and found out what the Caregivers' interests and likes are, and made cards, got candy, and made baskets of all their favorite things. We also got together and donated items to the venue in which we hold our meetings. We also had a HUGE yummy cake to eat that had a great big "Thank You" for them! We just wanted to take the time to appreciate our Den Daddies and all of the things that they have done to make our troop feel safe, happy, and accepted. We are grateful to them for always helping out and giving us guidance, especially when we can be totally rambunctious!
Bee also made a great presentation of his pride and joy, Trypticon! He showed us all the hard work he did on his figure, told us about how it relates to his little space, and shared with us the hours and hours of work he put in to making this Transformer exactly how he wanted. We learned a lot and really enjoyed seeing the little details, and feeding Trypticon his favorite snack: other transformers!! We giggled a lot when Elly, our "Legatron", accidentally threw her favorite, Megatron, into the wide open mouth of Trypticon! Whoops...! Good job on your presentation, Bee!
We had an awesome time. We can't wait until the next meeting: Our Triannual Pinning Ceremony!
Check out the pictures of our meeting below.
Say that seven times fast!!
A few of the scouts gathered and got to watch their first Roller Derby. We didn't get to take a lot of pictures, but we sure learned a lot and had a lot of fun! We even talked about doing a Scouts version of roller derby, but ultimately decided against it because that is a lot of pushing and shoving, and we don't want any littles to get hurt. Safety first, right?
One scout, Elly, came out with her caregiver... and while the others had cotton candy, she wasn't allowed to have any! But the other sneaky scouts snuck her some anyway and she got to enjoy it!! There was a lot of giggling and snickering and being silly, and everyone had a great time! (She got caught though... oopsie!)
We learned a lot and got to see the game in its entirety, learning all the rules and positions and the scoring system. Hopefully we can watch more Roller Derbies in the future! This was a lot of fun, from the derby itself, to all the silly giggling. Emmie and Elly cracked up laughing after a particular silly dance when music was playing during a break, and they just couldn't stop the giggle fits! The giggling went on pretty much the entire night.
We also wore cool shoes and ate nummy food! And because we are silly scouts, when we go to a roller derby, we take pictures of shoes and food...but not the roller derby itself? Priorities, right? We have them straight. Hahaha!
All in all, it was a fun night for a casual and relaxed social gathering. Everyone had a good time, and we can't wait 'til the next Scouty Outing!
We had such a blast at our Space and Stars meeting! We made moon dough, decorated space shoes, and had an awesome time with balloon rocket races! We had more activities, like coloring, love bug making, making animal friends out of hearts, and making galaxy bottles, too! And because Valentine's Day was so close, everyone was given the option to bring a Valentine's box and hand out Valentine cards. What a super sweet way to celebrate how stellar we are! This meeting was totally out of this world!
Our troop celebrated its first birthday! We had a ton of fun, had yummy snacks, and enjoyed spending time with each other. Here are a couple of pictures!
